Co-Angler
Tournament Day Checklist

ITEMS:

___  Lifejacket - If you forget this you may not be able to fish at all.

___  Tournament Rules - Always bring a copy and review before the tournament.  No where the out-of-bounds locations are, just in case your boater doesn't.

___  Fishing License (s) - A must, be sure you have read the tournament rules to find out which ones you need.

___ Rods, Reels, Tackle Box - Suggest 5 Rods/Reels, Tackle box/station with stowaway system.

___  Raingear - Remember, at 60mph + on a bass boat, the cheap stuff will not cut it.  Rain turns into needles, even more so when it is cold.

___  Clothing - Always bring a light sweater, and plan on layering so you can peel layers off throughout the day.  Shoes - pre-treated with water resistant spray.

___  Sunglasses - A must, polarized.

___  Cap or Hat - Helps keep the sun off and helps to see underwater structure better.

___  Food & Drink - Light snacks or sandwiches, granola bars, Gatorade or water (no soda).

___ Sunscreen - Rub this on in the morning before the tournament and wash your hands.  Apply again during the day.

___ First Aid Kit - A small first aid kit with the following (these items can literally fit in a sandwich bag):
Band-Aids
Antiseptic or Iodine
Gauze Pad(s)
Tylenol/Advil
Tums/Imodium
Medical Tape
Specific Allergy Medication - Bee Stings,
 Benedryl, Epi-Pen, etc.

PRE TOURNAMENT CHECKLIST

___  Food for Travel - Water, Soda, Snacks.

___ Vehicle Prep - Air in Tires, Fuel Up, Washer Fluid, Registration.

___  Favorite Music - Sounds Goofy, but it helps to get you in a good mood, motivated, and into that zone while you are traveling.

___  Tackle - Co-Angler Tackle Station - recommended by JD.

Checklist:
- 5 Rods/Reels
- Extra confidence baits
- Extra Line
- Hooks
- Weights
- Culling System (your boater might not have one for you)
- Lures - Go with proven lures and research your tactics for the specific lake

General Tips by JD:
- Do your research before your trip, know the forage, look at reports, check the weather, and be organized.

- Lure Strategy - Go with what is proven time and time again at tournaments (i.e. Worms, Jig & Pig, Spinnerbaits, Tubes, Topwater, Crankbaits).

- Bring a pen and paper to the pre-tournament meeting, take good notes, ask your boater questions (as much as possible without pissing him/her off).

- Organize your tackle, bring extra line in case you need to make any last minute adjustments.
