Spinnerbaits - Trailer Hook

The only time you really want to use a trailer hook is in dirty or muddy water. The reason being is that with a trailer hook you are making the bait look bigger when you don’t want to be.  Remember, the spinnerbait is meant to imitate a baitfish that is going to be an easy meal.  A common mistake is to make the bait look or appear to big and therefore eliminating many strikes you would have got with the smaller profile.

If you are going to use a trailer hook, make sure it is free floating with the plastic tubing above the hook just about in the middle of the bend, making sure it doesn’t ride up.
