Spinnerbaits - Short Strikes

If you keep getting short strikes, then trim the skirt on the spinnerbait. Don’t be afraid to go right down to about 15 strands. Make the bass have to hit the bait and get a hook into its mouth to taste it and check out what it is.

If the skirt is full, straight out of the packaging, the bass may just want to see what it is. Why not force the bass to put a hook in its mouth in the process?  The bottom line here is that you want to make the bait smaller and more compact so the bass will have to get most of the bait in its mouth to figure out if it wants to eat it or not.
