Clear Water

On a clear day you are going to be fishing a further away from holding fish. Get to close and they will get spooked.

Fishing clear water requires a delicate presentation. Try throwing something that hits the water quietly, like a softbait.

Snagging and moving weeds in clear water can spook nearby fish. Try using a jig or weedless spoon.

Bass tend to be more timid when the water is clear. It could be they feel vulnerable, or it could be the sharper view they’re getting of their meal.

When your fishing clear water where the cover is sparse, it’s usually best to start with natural colored lures.

When the water is clear or there’s a lot of angling pressure, try lure colors that imitate baitfish and other natural foods.

Clear water stays warmer in fall and winter, keeping forage and bass more active.
